As the Summer holidays have just begun, it seemed an appropriate time to reminisce on those exciting six weeks of never-ending fun, ice-lollies, sweets, and spending every hour with friends soaking up the sun and generally being quite mischievous!

Despite having a childhood theme, as with everything on this site, this one is strictly for over 18's, but just allows grown ups the chance to kick back over the summer holidays as well!
Introducing.....Cherry Drops Infused Vodka!
This infusion is so easy, and so full of flavour, it is definitely worth trying, and especially if you've yet to try infusing something yourself as the effort is minimal for a great result! It's a perfect drink for parties too as it makes everyone share a great story from their childhood!
Cherry Drops Infused Vodka
You'll Need:
70cl Vodka
4 Packets of Cherry Drops
You're also going to need:
An Air Tight Bottle/ Jar
Coffee Filter Papers
5-7 Days Infusing Time
Method of Madness
Irritatingly, Cherry Drops are all individually wrapped, and so this adds a whole minute on to the process! Try not to give up, you can reward your unwrapping skills with a single Cherry Drop, but if you can't stop at one, you'd be best buying 5 packets!
As the Cherry Drops need space to sit in the bottle, you'll need to transfer the vodka to a larger airtight bottle. On the other hand, if you fancy a refreshment break, pour yourself a generous serving, and then simply add the Cherry Drops straight in to the original bottle.
When I made this, I had a litre bottle, and a regular 70cl bottle, the Cherry Drops fall effortlessly in to the regular bottle, but got stuck in the neck of the litre bottle. Hopefully you wont have this same trouble, but if you do, just put the unwrapped Cherry Drops in to a food bag and bash them up a bit first, tip these pieces in to the bottle, and seal.
Leave them to get happy for a week, but you can probably get away with 3-5 days if it's a last minute party requirement. Having had this warm environment over the past few days has really helped these dissolve quickly. You can also help them along by shaking the bottle vigorously each day, and although the heat helps, be sure to keep it out of the sunlight to prevent losing any colour and flavour.
Party Morning - Strain the vodka through the filter paper, and bottle up ready for drinking later!

Cherry Drops Vodka Shot
For those of you that need the party to start NOW!!
Just pour yourself a shot, and let the memories flood in...with a kick!
Cherry Piñata
(So I know most of you don't care but I created this great 'play on words' cocktail name, and so you WILL learn it's background! It's pretty simple really, combining "pineapple" and "aranciata" to create the word "pinata", but here's the clever part.....The drink bursts with flavour, just like a piñata! Et Voila Cherry Pinata was born!) - Longest brackets in the history of Infusapalooza!
Very simple to make, just fill a glass with ice, add a couple of shots of Cherry Drops Vodka, fill half the glass with pineapple juice, and then top with San Pellegrino Aranciata. The San Pellegrino range of sparkling citrus fruits is incredibly good quality and make the perfect drinks, so be sure to make the trip especially to buy these!
Cherry Caipiroska
Some of you will know by now, that this is my favourite way to drink any and every fruit infused alcohol. The sweetness in the sugar, and the sharpness of the limes, make this the perfect balance to bring out the flavours in the infusion, and this definitely applies to the Cherry Drop infusion as well!
In a glass, add a couple of teaspoons of sugar, and squeeze over 6 lime wedges. The juice from the wedges should begin dissolving the sugar, and you can give it a muddle to help it along.
Fill the glass with crushed ice, and give it a good stir.
Pour over a couple of shots of Cherry Drops Vodka, give it another stir, and serve!
Mmmm, sweetshop bliss!
I'm off to pour myself another in the sunshine, if there's any great bartenders out their with more drink ideas, then be sure to send me your tips and recipes!
See you again soon!
Yum! Cherry Drops and Vodka amazing! Deffo summer treat :)
