The only downfall? I cannot have it for breakfast AND drive to work!
I don't just rely on my single opinionated tastebuds, I have my trusty sidekick at Infusapalooza to help me out!
There's just one problem, he is a devout Rumthiast and so getting him to sample the vodka creations can sometimes be a little challenging. So, in a quest to touch all his weak points, I combined his two favourite flavours, Blueberries and Pancakes, crossed my fingers, and created this little beauty!
The result? I'll refer you back to my first sentence......backed up by a vodka loathing taste buddy.
Let's begin with the infusion.........Blueberry Vodka!
Ingredients
500ml Vodka (As always, there's no need to buy extortionately priced vodka, but don't bother with the cheapest either!)
125g Fresh Blueberries
That's It!!
You're also going to need:
An Air Tight Bottle/ Jar
A Fine Mesh Sieve / Coffee Filter Papers
7 Days Infusing Time
Method of Madness
It couldn't be a simpler method here, so simple, I will add in the obvious...
Thoroughly wash the blueberries and discard any overly ripe berries.
Pop the berries in to the air tight bottle and fill with the vodka.
I left this one to infuse for a whole week, with a daily swirl-shake, and this results in a lovely purple liquid!
Party Morning - Unless the blueberries have broken up, you should only need to use a fine sieve to separate and remove the berries from the infused vodka, and then just simply bottle it up for later!
Tips
Most (if not all) of the blueberry flavour is now in the vodka, not the berries, but the berries will be holding on to some of the vodka, so go ahead and treat yourself to a little grown up pudding and mix in to ice cream sundaes or serve with other fruits for a devilishly good fruit salad!
Drink Suggestion
Get in touch or leave comments with your ideas for this infusion, here's the recipe for what I like to call.....
Infusapalooza Does Blueberry Pancakes:
- 40ml Blueberry Infused Vodka
- 20ml Grapefruit Vodka (I used Finlandia this time but will definitely get round to infusing my own shortly!)
- Good dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream
- Handful of fresh Blueberries
- Good pinch of Cinnamon
Pour it out into a glass and decorate with blueberries and super-cute mini pancakes!
Please, please, please approach this one with caution, it is moreish, you will want a second, and a third, and more!
Right guys, I'm off to pour another, thanks for stopping by!
