Infusapalooza

Bringing you an infusion of passion, flavour and fun

Right you lucky little drunken monkeys, I've got a live exclusive drink post for you!
Just a quick post as 'Merry Christmas' is currently sat quite literally in my glass!!

To make this bad boy, you're going to need:
50ml Spiced Apple Gin (Recipe to follow, try with Chase apple gin or regular gin for the time being)
25ml Toffoc (Toffee Vodka)
50ml Cloudy Apple Juice
Cream and Cinnamon to top!

I began layering the ingredients.....but gravity won. So the method is now just get it all in the glass! Then layer the cream by carefully pouring the cream over the back of a spoon, resting very slightly above the drink. Give it a festive shake of ground cinnamon and enjoy!

It's cold enough outside so I didn't bother shaking or chilling the base drink. If you've got the fire roaring and need to cool off, feel free to shake with ice before topping with cream. Be aware that this will slightly dilute the drink so reduce the apple juice for a stronger hitting pie!

I'm off to finish wrapping presents with my glass filled now!

Now, I don't like to tell fibs so I'll let you in on a little (not-so-secret) secret......this post should be titled "Drink of the Day Before Yesterday", but it just didn't quite have the same ring to it, so roll with me on this one!

For those of you that do not know me personally, one of the main reasons for starting this blog was to keep my passions alive, meet some industry experts, and hope to steer my career back to Food and Drink.

Well, guess what? I DID IT!!

I have just began a new Marketing role for a large, national Food supplier, and the best bit is that I get to work with some amazing hotels, restaurants and bars helping shape the meals of tomorrow! It's an exciting role, and a great change of direction for my career. Having been at my previous position for over five years, it was one of the most surreal, nerve-wracking and emotional moves I've made, but I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.......so, here's to New Beginnings!!

The blog has been something that has been hidden from almost all of my friends and old colleagues, and so it is a lovely feeling to now be completely open and share my hobby with you all.

Here's my infused cocktail to mark the occasion!

New Beginnings

45ml Arancello - (Make your own!)

15ml Amaretto

70ml Tropical Juice (Unashamably, I used half a Caprisun and it worked well, but I must remember to go shopping for mixers!!)

15ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice

Throw some ice in to a cocktail shaker and add in all of your ingredients, give the it a great big shake to chill the drink, and strain in to your favourite glass, whilst you go about setting your next set of goals!

From the moment the Arancello infusion became a thought, I already knew I had to add it to a chocolate cake recipe.
One day, Mr.Infusapalooza went to work and left me on my own to relax for a whole day, and so I naturally grew a huge craving for chocolate and alcohol! However, this craving struck on a day where we did not have any eggs in the house, and so I hunted down a base recipe for egg-free brownies......great result for the high-craving, too-lazy-to-shop egg-less home, as well as those poor unfortunate souls with egg allergies!
After seeing how popular the Limoncello recipe was with friends, family, and readers, I thought about trying out the recipe with other citrus fruits, and so I had some fun with Limecello, and now Arancello.....Personally, this one is my favourite of the three, and I will attempt grapefruit and blood orange versions before my trials are complete! In reality, these citrus infusions will never end, as it then turns in to an adventure of mixed citrus liqueurs!

As the Summer holidays have just begun, it seemed an appropriate time to reminisce on those exciting six weeks of never-ending fun, ice-lollies, sweets, and spending every hour with friends soaking up the sun and generally being quite mischievous!

Cherry Drops most definitely played their part in my summer holiday, and so now as an adult, battling my way through the child-infested high street contending against skateboards and scooters, whilst music blasts from their hands, I decided, this year, I was going to take back summer for myself!

Despite having a childhood theme, as with everything on this site, this one is strictly for over 18's, but just allows grown ups the chance to kick back over the summer holidays as well!

Introducing.....Cherry Drops Infused Vodka!

Hey!
I've been a little quiet recently but stay with me, I've got a great pineapple rum creation coming soon!

Meanwhile, Essence of Life asked me to put together a few drinks to serve during BBQ season, so please stop by the site and enjoy the other tips and advice for enjoying the most of the summer!

Check out the latest newsletter here!

See you soon!

By now, you should know that I like to bring you the best taste, via the easiest means, and all without breaking the bank. Hopefully this new infusion of blackberries and rum will again do just that!

Two posts in one day, eh? Oh, I do spoil you!

Whilst the Limecello is currently a work in progress, it has made the most delightful side-product, and I must share this with you all at once!
Now, I know everyone else does Drink of the Day, trying to be all on-the-minute, trendy, and forward thinking, but I am afraid I think a lot of these people might be lying to you.

Are you honestly telling us that you've concocted a great recipe, made the drink, genuinely enjoyed it so much that you realised it needed it's own solo mention, and then managed to write about it?
Well, my hat is off to those that actually manage it, but in my world, I enjoy the drink and don't let anything disrupt the moment. Therefore, I would like to present to you.........yesterday's drink!

It's that time of year again, when the enormous pile of ugly leaves in the garden  flourish and create a beautiful British pleasure...........Rhubarb!

Some of you who know me a little more personally, will be well aware that I love to try and bake, but I'm just not the best, and I wont settle for the easy stuff either, I love nothing more than attempting a six layer rainbow cake, and failing miserably (check out my Pinterest)!

Okay, so I definitely don't enjoy failing, but for some reason, I pick myself up and again attempt the next impossible bakery trial.  This time around it was a Pimms & Lemonade cake. One that I knew would most definitely fail, but determined to try for Clandestine Cake Club, I thought I'd give it a practise run, and to my amazement, it turned out absolutely, wonderfully, delicious! BAKING SUCCESS!!

Since beginning this blog, and in an attempt to create drinks that are full of flavour, I have somewhat neglected one of my favourite drinks......Prosecco! Mr. Infusapalooza and I love everything Italian! Food, drink, people, accents, Vespas, you name it, we love it, and Prosecco is right up at the top!

For those of you who follow my Twitter ramblings, you will be well aware that I have been infusing vodka with lemons for most of this month, in order to hopefully create a lovely Limoncello!

Goooooooood Morning!!
So, who doesn't like vodka for breakfast?
Ok, that might be taking things a little too far, but how many times have you tried to perk yourself up for that great night out that you and the girls have been planning for weeks, and when the day finally arrives, you didn't sleep a wink the night before, and you've been run off your feet all day! Argh, typical!
Fear not, here's a trendier, and far more acceptable version to asking for a cuppa!

Good Morning Infusapaloozist's!

Apparently it is now summer, but the sun is definitely not shining on this very wet and miserable day!

The Limoncello is still infusing, and I've got some Coffee Infused Vodka coming to the blog on Saturday so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, DrinkedIn approached me and asked if I would contribute to the blog in their community, and after I have been obsessing over them in the land of Pinterest, I naturally accepted! Click on their name in the link above to view the post, it's all about how to save some pennies and have the best night out, at home!

Hope you all like it, see you at the weekend for a super perk-me-up martini!

The May Bank Holiday weekend saw some exciting kitchen and bar athletics for the Infusapalooza mini crew!

This drink has been created for those "I NEED SUGAR" moments, or after those long days when you need a cross between a mug-hug and an alcoholic kick, or if you're like me, you'll simply class this as one of your five-a-day!
Now, I don't like to brag but this is most definitely, without a doubt, THE best thing I have ever put in a glass...........well in 2013 anyway, for sure!

The only downfall? I cannot have it for breakfast AND drive to work!

Yesterday, we had [attempted] our first BBQ of the year, and that can only mean one thing.......TOASTED MARSHMALLOWS!!
Well my little fluffy white friend, I'd like to introduce you to my very transparent sidekick, meet Vodka!

Infusing a fine bottle from The Captain should have been a rather simple adventure, however, this infusion taught me a thing or two.......as well as how to rescue my attempts from complete failure!

Okay, so I may be some way off the Birthday Cake infusion, but I thought I would start things off simply, and within my grasp!
Hello World!! (Or more likely, Mum, Dad, Lover, and Siblings!)

After realising my 9am-5pm career had slowly become my every waking thought, I decided I needed to revisit my roots and invest some time in discovering my passions and hobbies!

About Me

Dawn Aston
Hi! I'm the face behind Infusapalooza.
I'll mostly be sharing some drinkspiration alongside tried and tested infusions, although I do like to dabble in a bit of baking, I am most definitely NOT 'one to watch' in the kitchen, but I'll have a good hard go at it!
